Shipping will take place very soon...with in days. My builder has informed me that the car will be ready to ship. Car should be arriving around 1st of March. While a replica is far from the real thing, the overall effect is the same. The original spyder weighed approx., 1200 lb. with a 120 horse power engine. My replica on the other hand will have 1200 lb. with a 160 horse power engine, should be fun to drive.
Anyone interested in the plight to spyder ownership, it is a long, long journey with little fun during the wait process....all I can say. After I receive the car I will post about other fun things like getting one of these registered, that sort of thing.

A blog about getting a Porsche replica kit car built in California. A very expensive endeavor I do not recommend to the faint at heart.

Delivery date extended 2 weeks
Well the delivery date did not get made since the car was not ready. There was other factors as well. Date extended to 1-27-10. Hopefully this will be enough time to get the car finished. These things take time, as the old saying use to go "Cant rush perfection". The Spyder is small quick car, the replica is approx. the same weight to power ratio. When I get additional progress photos I will post them here.

First post about the 550 Spyder I bought
Nov. 30 2010
In June of 2009 I put contract on a 550 Spyder replica. The following pages will tell the story.
The pictures below were taken in Aug. 2010, not much work has been done. The car needs to have some assembly work done such as wiring, trans. installed and engine installed.
These cars are handmade works of art. Very similar to the originals at a fraction of the cost.
Vintage Spyders are made in Stanton CA. The cars are well built and have good following of owner's. I don't know if I would recommend going the building route over buying a good used one. The positives are that you don't get someone else's junk or problems. I wanted a fresh one that's why I went with having one built. The drawback is that the wait time to get a car is close to 2 years.
